Work in Progress is a group exhibition featuring a
selection of local artists submitting what they feel are unfinished
works to be on show for two weeks at Newcastle’s Nana Contemporary Art
Space situated in the Emporium on Hunter street Mall from May 10 - June 4.
Featured Artists:
Madeleine Cruise
Jesse Neale
Maggie Hensel-Brown
Sascha Bravery
The showcase aims to create a dialogue between the artists across different disciplines and the public. The Audience is encouraged to share their feedback with interactive discussions and workshops. Everyone is welcome to take part in aiding the artists with cultivating strategies of finalising these works.
To exhibit works that are unfinished, to remove the fear associated with a product leaving the studio before it is completed is often unthinkable. Being an Artist Run Gallery it is only fitting that the team at Nana Contemporary Art Space are dedicated to providing a nurturing environment for emerging artists where constructive feedback can be exchanged between people of the Newcastle community.
Visit The Emporium and interact with the show by joining the collaborative drawing workshops and exhibit your own finished work, discuss the notion of finality and share your feedback with the artists.
Don't forget to visit the Nana gift shop to find an array of unique products by local artists.
Gallery opening hours 10am- 5pm Wednesday to Saturday.
Free collaborative drawing workshops will be held from 11 am Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of May. Hosted by participating artists Maggie Hensel-Brown of The Workroom (Gallery and store situated opposite the Nana Contemporary Art Space) and Sascha Bravery.
Discussions are open in the gallery or on the NANA contemporary art Facebook Page
