ABOUT

Set up in 2013 NANA contemporary art space has had many faces as a gallery, local makers shop and window project space. In 2015 NANA will simplify its focus and re-launch as a sole window art space.

NANA’S new foundation is made up of three windows unique in that they were once part of Newcastle’s iconic David Jones department store. Enclosed spaces, the windows are ideal for all art forms, photography, painting, sculpture, new media and performance. Located in a very central location just off Newcastle mall the space has 24-hour street visibility and is lit up at night.

NANA seeks to present engaging and challenging contemporary art to local Newcastle communties. We are interested in ideas that possess a sensibility and appreciation for Newcastle’s budding creative potential juxtaposed with the city’s economic and spatial limitations.

Exhibitions open on the first Friday of each month and run for three weeks. Artists have the option to utilize one or all three of the windows at a subsidized rate.
